Hi there r articles in the Health Pages and posted on the blue tool bar that will give u a list of foods to avoid and foods that r safe with GERD...u should keep a journal as some of the safe foods can still give him issues and some of the foods to avoid may not...so a little trial and error may happen, but keep track in the journal as to what works best for him.

Hi GERD has lot of things to avoid other than coeffee and spicy foods. My no list is more and my yes list is only few items. Citrus foods, processed foods, foods with preservatives effect GERD and belching. Also check the vegetables he is eating, as many vegetables cause belching.
Hi Jack you mentioned about accupuncture, can you let me know how to do this. Iam new to this and have never tried. Did you find any relief with accupuncture. Your experiences would be of great help.
I would suggest the use of Omeprazole, but use it correctly, otherwise it does not help at all, ask you doc how to use it correctly.
Also try Accupuncture, but give it time, at least 10 treatments before you judge if it helps.
feel well.
Was a cause of his easophagitis discussed? If the valve that keep the acid out of the esophagus isn't working correctly, medications aren't going to be very effective, in my opinion and experience.
Like Risha78 suggests, certainly adopt a low acid diet. Selma, who monitors this forum suggests, raise the headboard about six inches of the bed by putting blocks or boards under it.
Regarding accupunture... I use it for relief for joint and arthritis pain. My sister trained in China, is licensed in this country and state and makes her living doing accupunture, but she suggests it won't do anything for digestive issues, other than calming down the nervous system, a momentary fix.
Keep us informed, and best wishes.
