eosinophilic esophagitis and auto inflammatory disease

by help4son, Feb 07, 2009 12:17AM
My 15 year old son was diagnosed with EE while trying to rule out IBD back in 2007.  He has been suffering chronically for two years with flares of extreme fatigue, mouth ulcers, skin rashes (papules, pustules, and hives), facial swelling around eyes, heart racing, loss of appetite, joint/muscle pain and swelling.  We have been unable to get an exact diagosis.  Does anyone know if EE has been related with other auto inflammatory type diseases?

Hi,
EE is a type of allergic disorder involving the esophagus. It may be assocaited with other allergic disorders.
EE is a Primary eosinophilic disorder ( No underlying cause).
Autoimmune diseases may cause secondary eosinophil disorders ( secondary to someother cause).
