esophogeal back pain

esophogeal back pain

I have chronic pain in the center of my back, under my left shoulderblade, occasionally so severe it's intolerable, at that time it's pain ful to swallow water, I feel as if I have a large object lodged 1/2 way down. I've been to the emergency room, seen a cardiologist & they came up with the all clear.. The pain persists. When the episode is over I experience nausea, and then exhaustion for 24 hours .. Thank you  Sallie

Hi,
Esophageal pain only rarely radiates to back.
Since you have painful swallowing and feeling of lump, you possibly could be having GERD with reflux esophagitis.
It can be confirmed with upper GI endoscopy and 24 hours pH monitoring.
PPI may be taken for 6-8 weeks for relief.
