feeling of something stuck in my esophagus

For about a month, I have had a feeling of something stuck in my esophagus. I also have a pain in my chest midline. It hurts more when I eat or lay down. Sometimes when I eat or drink, it feels like it won't go down. I cannot belch unless I drink a carbonated beverage. Three weeks ago, I had a endoscopy. The doctor dialated my esophagus. In the past, this procedure has given relief for years. This time it had no affect. Can you please help?

hi nena, you probably would be better to talk to your doctor about fundoplication to help stop the reflux and then you can throw the meds in the bin.

Hi nena2,
You might be suffering from peptic stricture of the esophagus. Acid reflux and inflammation over a period of time can cause narrowing of the esophagus called peptic stricture which cause obstruction to the passage of food. When the symptoms are severe dilatation of the esophagus is needed.

That sounds like what I need to have done. My doc just did an egd/colon and he didnt dilate my esophagus. But within a few minutes of eating around the midline area beneath my breasts, It is incredibly painful. I was told I had gastritis and a hiatal hernia. I have had the hernia for about 6 years that I know of but nothing was done for that. I am being sent for a gastric empty study, as I am trying to get clearance to have the lapband operation.
