is my sore throat from gastroduodenitis or gerd?

hello there. i was wondering if anyone could suggest me something about my problem. 2 and a half months ago i started having a sore throat which usually feels dry, burning or scratchy. at the same time i started to experience heartburn which i never had before, also cough mostly when i was lying down. otolaryngologist said i have pharyngitis but none of the medication that i tried for it helped and i tried pretty much all the possible stuff. my tounge has also turned white, which he said might be related to stomach problems. so today i went for a gastroendoscopy and i was told that i have a "gastroduodenitis". could my sore throat be becouse of that? and what about heartburn, i read that heartburn is becouse of gerd but when i asked him if have gerd he said i don't, but i've read online that endoscopy isn't really helpfull in diagnosting gerd, so i am very confused. also, very worried about my chronic sore throat which isn't getting better in 2 and a half months now and i don't know why. anyone has any ideas about what's the cause of my sore throat? would really appreciate any ideas.

Hi,
Endocopsy is not useful in diagnosing GERD. It is helpful only if there are any complications of GERD.
24 hours pH monitoring test may be done for evaluation.
Though sore throat and coating of tongue can occur in GERD, there are many other causes of coated tongue.
White coated tongue could be due to oral thrush also.

GEEZE WHITE TONGUE CAN BE A SYMPTOM OF CANDIDA AKA YEAST.  AND WHILE AN EGD MIGHT NOT SHOW EVIDENCE OF REFLUX IT CAN SHOW THINGS LIKE IRRITATION, REDNESS, INFLAMMATION.  REFLUX IS DIAGNOSED BY BRAVO IMPLANTS OR THE IMPEDENCE TEST.

Pharyngitis (pronounced /ˌfærɪnˈdʒaɪtɪs/) is an inflammation of the throat or pharynx.[1] In most cases it is painful and the initial infection can extend for a lengthy time period. It is the most common cause of a sore throat.[2]

Like many types of inflammation, pharyngitis can be acute – characterized by a rapid onset and typically a relatively short course – or chronic. Pharyngitis can result in very large tonsils which cause trouble swallowing and breathing. Pharyngitis can be accompanied by a cough or fever, for example, if caused by an upper respiratory tract infection.

Most acute cases are caused by viral infections (40–80%), with the remainder caused by bacterial infections, fungal infections, or irritants such as pollutants or chemical substances.[2][3] Treatment of viral causes are mainly symptomatic while bacterial or fungal causes may be amenable to antibiotics and anti-fungal respectively.

gastroduodenitis
Pronunciation: gas′trō-dū-od′ĕ-nī′tis

Definition: Inflammation of both stomach and duodenum.

Ask your doctor to check for a bacterial or fungal infection.

I'm not a doctor but you could ask them to check you for H.pylori
