ppis

I have been diagnosed with gerd and given lansaprozole, a ppi.  I have been given a months supply and been on it a week and if anything my symtoms (symptoms) are worse.  Do these take a few weeks to kick in as the doctor did not give me any information, just my prescription and said that these will work.  I have sufferered this a few years ago and found the tablets didn't work very well.  Any ideas how long they take to work.

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.

Yes it can take a while to see results of PPI's...and it is possible that they may not work for u.....give it  another week and then ask ur dr about H2 blockers.

DId u also change ur diet?.....and make lifestyle changes?

U need to do all along with meds to get the full benefit.

Godspeed
