Pregnant women have my sympathy when illness is added to thier concerns. I've had reflux for over 30 years. Your obgyn should be aware of any meds you take before you take them. That said, I would begin by taking samples of pepcid (famotidine) from the Dr's office. There are many other reflux brands, some strong. Pepcid, zantac, tagamet are all old basic meds. I guess these are good to start with. Ask your doctor. They are also OTC, over the counter. As far as diet goes, it can be hit and miss until you find the really acid triggering food, it varies from person to person. Typical are spicey foods, hot peppers, chilli, etc. then dairy, cheese, milk, etc. then alcohol, beer, hard stuff, etc. I elevate the top of my bed 2inches, it keeps acid down in the stomach at nite. Sleep and slide but it helps. The goal is to keep acid down and minimize its production. A bottle of antiacid next to the bed is a help, take a slug if you awaken with discomfort in the GI tract. Also, a sip of water.
PS if you some day go long term on reflux meds ask the doctor to Rx generic ones.
Ask your obgyn about reglan while you're pregnant.
Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.
U need to eat consistently ....and mayb even more meals a day but smaller meals as that will help u feel better...carry some saltines for when u feel the burn of the GERD .....
Not sure if u have had GERD for 5 yrs that it will dissipate as u get further along....
Nibble when u feel sick....but eat. and eat healthy. avoid foods that will trigger the symptoms to flare and while pregnant it may be more then what is typically affected.....
Talk with ur OBGYN about this issue and the best course of action.
