problem feeling full and nasuea after eating

problem feeling full and nasuea after eating

Within the last week I have been eating lunch and feeling full (not nasuea).  Then in the last 4 days the naseau started after lunch.  Note I have been eating large salads for lunch with one bbq meal  I tried eating dinner within the last 4 days but within the last 2 days I cannot eat dinner.  I dont vomit but I do feel a bit of chest pressure and last night I had 2 cups of water but could not eat.  Within the last two days I have been constantly salivating and thought that swalling the saliva was contributing to the problem  I have been on prilosec for a week but yesterday 2 days ago my doctor switched me to protonix, ran a blood test and has scheduled some additional tests in several days.  I read about functional dypepsia (sp) on the web.  I did have a pretty stressful situation within the last two weeks and I am wondering if this took a week to work its way into being my problem??

Hi,
Nausea and bloating after eating could occur due to stomach, gallbladder and pancreatic problems.
Upper GI endoscopy and ultrasound scan are the firstline tests to be done during evaluation.

Before going down the Proton Pump Inhibitor, or pH Blocking Medication highway. I would suggest that you get a pH Diagnostic test, not one that uses a naso-gastric tube, which can be higly traumatic.  It is very possible that you are suffering from Hyperchlorhydria, or the over Production of HCL by the Guts Parietal Cell.  This condition will lead to Delayed emptying, or marked delayed emptying of the Gut. Patients with Hyperchlorhydria will retain nutrients in the Gut.  When a person eats their morning meal, the food is still in the Stomach when the noom meal is consumed. After a few bites the person will feel full. If they continue eating they will feel bloated and have abdominal discomfort.  In severe case this condition will cause excoriation of the Gut and intestional mucosa.  It will also set the stage for certain Gastric Cancers.  Some of the symptoms for this condition are abdominal discomfort, GERD, Belching , Bloating, Irregular Stools, etc.  But be Carerful, the Lack of Hydrochloric Production also cause many of the same Symptoms, abdominal discomfort, GERD, Belching and Bloating, irregular Stools.  One of the most misdiagnosed conditions in this country is GERD,or Barrets esophogesl reflux, because the Symptons caused by the over production of Hydrochloric acid, or under prduction of Hydrochloric acid are virtually identical.  Many doctors are prescribing Proton Pump Inhibitors to patients that are not over producing HCL, causeing the Patient to become Achlorhydric. If you are Hyperchlorhydric you should be taking a medication that mimics the Normal Physiologic buffering the occurs in the Digestive Process, which is a 2 to 1 ratio of Sodium Bicarbonate to Potassium Bicarbonate.  Proton Pump Inhibitos will cause the Parietal Cells to stop producing HCL.  Several of these medications also affect the normal Physiologic buffering the occurs in the Digestive process.  I would highly advise getting a Heidelberg pH Diagnostic test.

Great comments.  Appreciate the effort!!

I am already on the PP road so I will stay the course.  I will however request the ph test and consider (seriously) your comments depending on what happens next. I dont eat lunch but drink coffee for breakfast (I know I know). Today I skipped coffee.  I may switch to decaffinated later on.

I had a sonogram (sp) today, and a baric drink test for the upper tract and lower tract (not sure of the terms).  I will get baric test results on Wednesday.  Today I had 2 cans of chicken soup for lunch (no effect) and one can of chicken soup and apple sauce for dinner (still no effect). I felt a little bloated but it is hard to tell if that is psychological because I am bit scared to eat.  I walked for an hour and still no bad effects from eating dinner. I will drink gatorade and see how that goes.  I might try a salad for lunch tomorrow.  Salads didnt seem to give me that bloating feeling last week (I eat 4 a week and had 112/68 bp today) so no weight/smoking/drinking issues to contend with.

GI doctor visit today pointed to a gall bladder problems (from my description) but he will get the tests tomorrow (Tuesday).  My gp ran blood test and will also get baric results tomorrow.  Have an appointment with the GI but not the GP for now.
