I'm 21 and have had Acid Reflux for about 2-3 years now. When major attacks occur, it can cause shortness of breath, but only when an attack occurs. When everything is fine, I don't notice myself being out of breath just because I have Acid Reflux.

Yes, shortness of breath can occur in patients due to GERD. Some patients may even develop full blown asthma.
