Our children all had some stomach issues this past summer, with vomiting, diarhea, writhing pain in the middle stomach region. All have gotten over it, even if it occured more than once, but our daughter, who is five, continues to suffer on and off. Our pediatrician said the symptoms don't fit anything, because the pain goes away, and now, there's no vomiting nor fever, but there is often diarrhea. Still, what can we do? It kills me to sit by and watch her writhing in pain on the floor, or trying to hold her till it passes, knowing that going to the hospital will only mean endless tests and that the pain will pass before we even get there.
Please help! The reason I wonder if it's acid reflux related is that she complains of her tummy "burning" and being hot on the inside. could there be a connection?
Thank you to whomever has any good and timely advice.
Burning pain in the abdomen could be due to acid peptic disease. Upper GI Endoscopy can be done to diagnose it. PPI / H2RA may provide relief.
If there is long standing diarrhea with abdominal pain, malabsorption syndromes should be suspected as one of the causes. Celiac disease is a possibility.
