thudding feeling and sound in esophagus

I had gall bladder surgery 7 months ago but since then I have a chronic cough and mucous. Worse in the mornings. When I cough hard or sniff hard I have a thudding sound between the chest where an incision was made during the lap surgery.Have had a ct of the abdomen to check for trapped stones but I feel I have GERD even though I have been on 20mg nexium for over a year now. I constantly have to clear my throat and sometimes get a slight case of heartburn but not too often. I have mild bronchiectasis and my lung specialist has heard the noise but thought it could be a hernia yet my gp says it would have shown in the ct. My gp has not listened to the noise despite my asking 4 separate times. I am worried what it is as I am sure this is not normal. I am convinced it is GERD and searching for advice on treatment and if my symptoms sound similar to someone. I also get a funny taste in my mouth some days. Swallowing feels tight all the time as if it is a rubber band yet my thryoid is under control according to blood test recently for under active. Please someone must have similar symptoms to me. if it IS GERD then I can deal with it but its the not knowing that frightens me

All of gerd related issues if left untreated can be serious...see ur dr and tell him about ur symptoms and ask if this is a possibility for u.
Remember not everyone will get all the symptoms.

Good luck

Does the following sound like it fits what u mean?

Symptoms of Laryngopharyngeal Reflux are:

Continual throat clearing
Chronic throat irritation
Chronic cough
Hoarseness
Excessive phlegm the throat
Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing)
Constant sensation of something in the throat
Swallowed food comes back up
Post nasal drainage
Weak voice
Cracking voice
Blockage of the breathing passage
Spasm of the larynx (voice box)
Wheezing
Heartburn
This condition is a result of both UES and LES not working correctly.
And it is possible not to have typical gerd/acid reflux  symptoms.
