I've recently had a burning sensation in my throat for 3 months now. My doc said its due to GERD. I had a barium swallow but it came back normal. Does GERD always hurt? I feel no pain just burning in throat and slight ear discomfort. Immediately after I eat my stomach and intestines make gurgling noises. I'm scared it might be cancer.

The Barium will show whether you have motility/swollow problems and/or Hiatal Hernia, narrowing of Esophagus.

Have you had an Endoscopy done?  that is one of the 1st diagnostic tests that you should get done.  This test can determine much more than the barium swallow and can rule out or confirm Cancer, Barrets, scarring, narrowing, etc.

GERD can be silent reflux and that means you don't feel it or you can have typical acid reflux (heartburn) that hurts and is uncomfortable.  You can also just have a lot of ENT (throat) symptomsIt.  It is normal for your stomach and intestines to make noises as it is digesting your food.

You also should have a look at your overall diet and make some changes if necessary like eating 5-6 small meals during the day, avoid acid triggers (coffee, gassy couldrinks, chocolate, spice food, fatty food, etc.) and if you have any excess weight to loose or could stop smoking (if applicable) that will help a lot.
