Gall bladder

I was sent to a surgeon by my family dr.  I had a hida scan done and it said that my GB was working at 8%.  The surgeon said he doesn't think that my pain is beging caused by the GB.   The pain is in my upper right Quad area in the back and under my ribs on the right in the front.  Surgeon said he wanted me to have a colonsopy and a scope down the throat to rule out any other things.  He said the colon was clear and didn't see anything but took 3 biops.  My husband mentioned that I have a family history of crohns..  Now the surgeon said that the biops came back pathlolgy assetment says it is crohns. a very mild case in my small intesting.   I have no signs nor symptoms for crohns . no weight loss no  loss bowels nothing that would say it was crohns.  I feel this was just an easy way out for the dr.  because he doesn't think it is my GB.  I also have a 3cm oval shaped cyst on my liver.  It has been there for 18 yrs  It use to be 2cm and round in shape.   could this be causing my pain.  the surgeon said no that everyone has cyst and that this is normal.  Have had the pain for 18yrs and it is getting worse.  what other things do you think it could be

Hi there -

Chitchatnine told me about this post, and I wanted to respond.  I just went through some testing for bowel issues, and Crohn's was a possibility.  I was diagnosed with IBS, though.

Has your doc done any blood work?  I understand that there are some blood test results on a CMP test that could indicate Crohn's.

I'd also ask for copies of the pathology results.  You should have copies anyway, but you can see if they say Crohn's.  It will help you accept the diagnosis, or work towards finding another.

We have a Crohn's Community too - http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Crohns-Disease---Ulcerative-Colitis/show/178

Take care!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello and hope you are doing well.

Gall bladder dysfunction can cause fatty food intolerance, but is unlikely to cause pain. Chron's could be causing the pain. The cyst in the liver unless inflamed or infected is unlikely to be causing the pain. Continue with the medications for Chrons, if it does not get better, then the other causes can be looked into.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
