Gallbladder pain without a gallbladder

For the past two weeks I have been having moderate to severe upper abdominal pain which goes through to my back.  I can not find any correlation as to it happening with food or on an empty stomach.  Sometimes it's after I eat and sometimes it wakes me up during the night. Sometimes it is just pain and sometimes it is accompanied with lots of gas and gas pain.  It is followed by watery diarrhea that can be so caustic it burns my bottom after one bought.  I have even had 3 accidents the diarrhea is so sudden and severe.  The pain itself reminds me of the pain I had before I had my gallbladder out.  I had it removed 2.5 years ago.  I have read about other people experiencing pain like this but no one has mentioned diarrhea.  I have had one trip to the ED and one regular MD Dr visit.  Dr. said could be a stomach bug I can't shake or irritable bowel.  He gave me Bentyl for IBS and I honestly can't tell if it helps cause the pain comes and goes anyway but I really don't like the way it makes me feel.  I have an appt with the gasto doc later this week.  Does anyone have any ideas.

You may want to look into the possibility of residual stones or sludge in the common bile duct, which can happen with or without a gallbladder being present. An MRCP can be used to check out the status of your biliary system and look for the presence of structural changes and/or the presence of stones/sludge. There is also a condition known as SOD - sphincter of Oddi dysfunction - in which spasms occur in the common bile duct or at the muscular opening to the duodenum of the CBD/pancreatic duct. The pain from this can mimic gallbladder attacks.

The diarrhea can result from unregulated dumping of bile from the CBD into the duodenum. When there's no food to mix with, it will irritate the colon and result in diarrhea and 'explosive' issues.
