METABOLISM

Does anyone know if having your Gallbladder removed slows down your metabolism? or does it speed it up? What have you experienced?

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Gall bladder removal does not affect metabolism directly. But post surgery there could be diarrhea and fatty food intolerance as the bile is secreted directly into the intestines. This leads to an avoidance of fatty food and loss of weight in some people.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

My daughter's sped up .. .she lost a lot of weight that never belonged on her for most of her childhood and now is normal for wt./ht !  Her GB was dysfucntional since birth but nobody figured it out until she was 17.  They say it was hereditary and think mine is the same issue but I have been in remission for about 2 yrs .. shhhhhhhhhhh

Not sure, but a friend of mine told me that after she had her gall bladder out, she lost 20 lbs pretty much right off the bat. I've known her for about 20 yrs and she's always been pretty normal in size. I would say it probably depends on the individual. But note.. she's had 2 or 3 children since her gb surgery and now she still looks prego, even tho she's not.. remember, it's probably an individual thing..
