gallbladder discomfort and Zoloft

I have been taking Zoloft for 8 years for anxiety, stemming from menopause.  I've been having discomfort in my upper right quadrant under my ribs for about 6 years.  My doctor diagnosed IBS and I've been taking donnatal, which helps.  I've recently decided to taper off of the Zoloft and have noticed that my discomfort has diminished.  Could it have been associated with taking the Zoloft?

Thank you for your reply.  Since lowering the dosage I have noticed significant decrease in my abdominal pain.  I'm hoping to discontinue taking Zoloft overtime  with my doctors help, of course.  My menopausal symptoms have lessened and I just feel a need to not have to take medication if it's causing uncomfortable side effects and perhaps is not needed any more.  Thanks again for your response.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Zoloft is likely to cause gastritis and peptic ulcer disease rarely and so is likely to cause upper abdominal pain. So, the abdominal discomfort may have been related to zoloft.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
