Hello and hope you are doing well.

You have been investigated for probably causes for bloating to rule out Irritable bowel syndrome, malabsorption syndromes, diverticulitis, Chron's disease, ulcerative colitis and  infections. Now, you follow some good lifestyle measures for the bloating to decrease. Eat food rich in plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, avoid spicy and fatty food, avoid smoking and eliminate alcohol. Do not consume caffeinated beverages. Practice good relaxation techniques like yoga and meditation. Exercise regularly. Go for long relaxed walks. Maintain a food dairy and try to identify those foods which are likely to produce bloating and avoid them. If these measures don't help consult your primary care physician.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Have you had a Ejection Fraction test done on your Gallbaldder?  That will tell you if your Gallbladder is functioning at all.  I had no stones and it went on for over 4 yrs.  My Gallbladder was dieing slowly and I didn't even know.  After 4 doctors and numerous of all kind of testing, I went to a female gastroenterologist and finally diagnosed me.  Even after removal, you still have to be careful what you eat.  Less fatty foods (or you'll end up with a fatty liver). I cleanse my liver with a hot cup of water with fresh lemon and for the discomfort, which you do get from time to time, I suck on a peppermint, does wonders!

They discovered gallstones and sludge in my gall bladder through an ultrasound of my liver, gall bladder, pancreas, and kidneys.  Perhaps, they overlooked the gall stones in your gall bladder when doing the ultrasound?  I also had them do a liver panel test which showed my ALT is slightly elevated, which is due to the nonfunctional gall bladder causing bile to backup into the liver.  I am having surgery on Thursday.  Below are a list of things that I have been eating or avoiding and I have been successful thus far at preventing another massive gall bladder attack:

no dairy
no greasy or highly processed foods (no fast food, donuts, cookies, cakes, etc.)
I have been using olive oil or garlic oil for cooking instead of vegetable oil
oatmeal with "I can't believe it's not butter" light - 1 tbsp
tortilla chips with and without avocado dip (onions, red pepper, black pepper, sea salt, and tomatoes)
lean cuisines - the "Chicken w/ Almonds" my tummy really likes
dried fruit (golden raisins, apricots, pineapple (the best!), cranberries, cherries)
sandwiches on whole wheat bread with organic smoked turkey breast or organic roasted chicken breast w/ onions, mustard or avocado, and tomato
no coffee
I have been successfully drinking diet colas but for some it can aggravate the stomach so something to test out and see if your tummy is okay with this
Fruit juice - cranberry/apple or cranberry/blueberry
Tons of water
bagettes dipped in olive oil

Important thing is to watch the fat content of foods.  Remove the skin off of all the meat you cook and don't eat any fatty red meat.  I plan to not eat any fast food or go to any restaurants until 1 month after surgery.

I still get bloated and have upper abdominal pain but I have stopped the massive attacks with my dietary changes and that's what counts the most to me.

If you have a massive gall bladder attack with vomiting, be sure to drink some gatorade or pedialyte to replenish your electolytes to prevent dehydration.
