to have remove or not

I have been having pressure behind my right rib,it gets so bad I have to lay down,I went to my Doctor who set up for me to have a scan,the nurse call a few days later and said they would set me up with a surgeon ,because I had polyp in my Gallbladder ,when I arrive at his office he said he could not tell if it was a polyp or stone,but he felt I should have gallbladder remove,my question ,I have acid reflex will having my gallbladder remove worsen my acid reflex?

My daughter had hers removed at age 17 and her acid reflux symptoms went away 100%

I am glad you did pop in,my surgery went good,and my recover better,and I also am having no problems from my acid reflex ,the gallbladder seen to have a connection between cholesterol and Thyroid,my cholesterol raise before my surgery and that is when I found out my thyroid was hypo ,thank you Carrie

I had acid reflux because of my gallbladder.  Removing my gallbladder took care of that problem.  However, everyone is different.  I was on my way to the thyroid forum but decided to pop in here (which I never do).

glad to hear your surgery went good,and you are feeling better,is there certain foods you can not eat? I am thinking about going to a nutrition ,

Just had my gallbladder out on Thursday(March 20). I was miserable. My pain got worse.. I would have the surgery. Little sore but no big deal..

I had my gallbladder surgery and it went great,I am not having the problems I read about,just a tiny bit sore,I feel so much better,thank you

Hi, its unlikely that removal of the gallbladder may affect the acid reflex. Any structural abnormalities of the gall bladder like stones or polyps need surgical correction. It is certainly likely that your symptoms relate to the gallbladder but removal would be indicated based on the size of the gallstone/polyp alone. Please follow up with your doctor. Regards.
