i will be having surgery next week to have my gallbladder removed why do they need an xray of my chest

I believe when anyone is having surgery the doc or hospital does pre-admission testing. That includes bloodwork, chest xray and ekg. That's been my experience anyway.

Maybe to check that lungs are clear, or for stones?  They didnt do this for me before my surgery so I cannot say for sure.  All the best during your surgery and a quick recovery.
