4 months sick

My son who is 19 has been having abdominal pain, epigastric pain, pain on the upper right side at times and headaches. He has a lot of gas (burping...)
The problem has been lingering. We  have seen doctors. We were only prescribed parriett. It all started with the stomach flu. What is wrong with him?

very worried

Right upper quadrant and epigastric pain is a reason to look for problems in the liver, gallbladder and stomach.  Headaches don't fit well into a abdominal pain construct.  I'm not familiar with parriett and unable to google anything about that drug.  Only a physician that examines him can tell you what's wrong, you need to find a good primary care physician, and if unable to arrive at a diagnosis, see a gastroenterologist

Take your son to a GI and have his gallbladder checked out. Have him go on a low fat diet and see if that helps. He could have gallstones or Biliary Dyskinesia. BD is gallbladder disease without stones. It was first described as a low functioning GB. They can do bloodwork to check his liver function and an ultrasound to check for stones. They can do a HIDA scan to how well it is functioning. If it is BD, his labs will be normal and the ultrasound will be clear. The HIDA scan will give you the answer.
