7 year itch???

7 year itch???

I think I should start my question by telling what Ive been through to date.  I "broke out" with a very itchy rash in Feb. 1998.  By May I was convinced that OTC meds weren't going to help so I went to see my family doctor.  Over the course of about 3 months he diagnosed me 3 times with "scabies" and treated me as having such.  I finally went to a different doctor.  He said possibly "vasculitis" and sent me to see an allergist.  The allergist said it definitly wasn't vasculitis and sent me to see a dermatologist.  The dermatologist said "dermatitis herpetaformus", and did a skin punch.  The punch came back and said it appeared to be an insect bite.  So From that the doctor concluded I had "excema".  I was treated for excema for months with no relief, I finally got an appointment with one who is generally considered in my area as the best dermatologist around.  He walked in the room took one look at me and said NERVES>>>>  That was over a year ago and Im still no better.  Im really going nuts here. Ive become a virtual prisoner imn my home.  I can't stand the heat, the cold, or any thing brushing against my skin.  Needless to say it creates problems in my marriage.  I have had blood test, liver and metobolic work ups, skin punches, I have been treated with Lindane, Atarax, Trimacinalone cream & ointment, Diflorasone, and some kind of shot that started with a K.  (I really hated it, it made me burn all over)  Ive already done all the common stuff.  Its not my soap.  Its not my pets, It's not allergies, It not excema.

Is there anyone who may have some insight into what's going on.   This has been going on for 2 1/2 years and Im really at my wits end.    PLEASE>>>>>  anyone...

Hi!  I have itchy skin too.  I however have severe anxiety and depression and they think it is hives from nerves.  I've never been tested for anything.  I break out in these itchy bumps that blister and don't heel for a long time.  I get them on my arms, upper back, and the outer part of my upper thighs.  Sound familiar?  Or is what your describing different?  I wish you the best of luck in finding out what it is!  I'm going to get tested soon and will let you know the results if you'd like....Melissa

Oh, thank you for responding.  Yes, it does sound familiar.  And, YES!!! Whatever you find, please keep me informed.  Even now, at this moment I am sitting here wrapped up in saran wrap looking very much like a left over....  Anything to try and keep this itch at bay.  It has been suggested to me also that it may be my nerves.  Okay, great, but now what?  It's not as though they can just take my nerves out. Believe me if I thought that would work I'd take them out myself.  Cubby

I havn't had a doctors  response on my "bumps" but I know they think that they are caused by stress.  I have these stress related bumps that are blistered and itch and no one will help me so I know how you feel...

I am sorry that no one has helped you either.  But I may be on to something.  My pharmacists suggested vitamin B to help repair nerve damage and you know what.  Im clearing up!!  I still itch but not nearly as bad.  I took a hot bath for the first time in over a year yesterday and I didn't scratch my self to death in the process.   I don't know if this is working yet but I've been on vitamin B for over a week now and something is definetly happening.  I am actually wearing shorts today.  I still have spots on my legs but compared to what they were a week ago I look like Daisy Duke.  I'll let you know how it goes. >>>Smile<<<
