A Painful Sensation

A Painful Sensation

I am experiencing a very strange sensation in my throat. When I swallow, it feels as if there is an obstruction in my throat. This sensation happened very suddenly yesterday after I ate lunch. Now, I'm trying to figure out what this could be. I am still able to swallow both food and liquid, it's just that when I DO swallow, I experience a painful sensation that seems to be happening right around my Adam's Apple. I have never experienced a sensation like this before. I don't have a sore throat or strep or a cough. Is it possible that when I ate lunch yesterday, I swallowed a piece of food that "scratched" my throat, creating this sensation? If this IS a possible cause, what can I do to relieve this thing? How long might it take for it to go away on its own? It's very uncomfortable and I'm very frustrated by it.

Thanks for your help with this matter.

Hi,
I had a similar situation happened to me.  It started out where I could not swallow a pill. Things after that went down hill.  After a ton of tests, it was determined that I had viral neuropathy.  Get to an ENT to have this checked out.  My left vocal cord and right pallet was paralized.  It took about five months to get somewhat better.  Although, I was pretty sick with it.  It started out slowly and mushroomed from there.  This is nothing to play with, and I hope I am wrong.
