Abdominal pain

Abdominal pain

my wife is having a dull abdominal pain that has lasted for 7 days. It sometimes gets severs and will spasam in the colon. Food makes it much worse so she is on liquids only. She has no gaul bladder. We have been to the hospital twice. They have done two CAT scans ,a chest xray, blood tests, temperature and urine tests. Everything is coming back negative. No elevated white blood cell count and no high temperature.
She does not drink alchol and she does not smoke. She does not have any history of stomach problems and is normally very healthy. She is 65 years old. She has had several colonoscopies and there has never been a problem.

Looking for answers.

I agree with the CT scan and colonoscopy, which would exclude the major GI conditions.

More specialized test can be considered, such as stool tests to look for fat malabsorption.  I would also consider blood tests to rule out celiac disease.

Otherwise, IBS can be considered and treated.  Options can include increasing the amount of fiber in the diet, antispasmodic agents or tricyclic medications.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.
