Adenamatous Polyps

Adenamatous Polyps

35 Female, had endoscopy& colonscopy, diagnosed and removed 12 polyps (colon) 9 hyperplastic 3 adenamatous. Doctor stated for follow up-colonoscopy every 2 years. Doc has now called back wanting a "next available" Barium X ray.I have a family history one death-maternal great grandfather colon cancer. My issues leading up to this procedure: gallbladder removal( i was fine no pain, cramping etc before my GB surgery), multiple uterine fibroids. What would be the cause of my doc's urgencey to now have Barium X ray? How common is it for a 35 year to have adenamatous polyps?

I cannot speculate regarding the reason without reviewing your chart.

It is not uncommon to have polyps at your age, and I agree with the recommendation for close follow-up.

Perhaps there was an area that was unclear on colonoscopy, and the GI physician wanted another quick look, without the trouble of repeating another colonoscopy.

However, I would certainly ask him or her as to the reason for such a quick follow-up study.
