After surgery

I had my gallbladder removed 5 years ago and have suffered from constant diarehea since.  Within the last few months I have continued to have more frequent diareahea and began bloating up to 5 inches in my stomach and abdominal area. I continue to bloat up to 5 inches above my normal waistline on a constant basis.  Since seeing my Doctor I was told I have irritable bowel syndrome, and in order to control it I have been taking 12 fiber pills per day, per my doctor, I continue to eat a lower fat diet, as I have since I've had the surgery.  I am now constipated, still bloated, can't fit into anything I own, I am uncomfortable and miserable.  I'm wondering if this is normal and if it has any relation to the removal of my gallbladder?  If so, am I on my way to getting back to normal?

I don't know how extensively you've checked this forum, but a lot of peoply have experienced your same difficulties after having their gallbladder removed (including me!).  I wouldn't say that this is normal or even common, but occaisionally there are a select few whose system can't compensate for the missing organ.  I have been on Questran for 8 years and have found it to be very effective.  You might check with your doctor and see if this is an option for you.  Best of luck.
