Anal Problem.

     I am a 27 year old heterosexual male in good physical condition,but for the last 6 months i have dealt with a very painful condition. I have Been to 4 different Doctors with this problem,and still no change. I have been checked for internal hemmorhoids with an anoscope and none were found. Neither has external hemmorhoids. I can see what appears to be tiny raw or blood spots just inside my anal canal. When i touch one of these the pain is horriable..They are not visiable unless the anal opening is slightly spread open..but they appear to be small raw spots..Everytime i have a bowel movement the pain and burning is unbearable..And the bowel movement reaggrevates the problem.i eat a high fiber diet.What could this be? Is it a common problem? I will be thankful for any answers..

It sounds like you have a fissure or tear in the anal canal. These are fairly common. A hard, dry bowel movement can cause a
tear in the anal lining, resulting in a fissure. Other causes of a fissure include diarrhea and inflammation of the anorectal area.
You can try to apply Annusol HC ointment to the anal and perirectal area and try to keep the area free of excessive moisture.
You can also soak the area in lukewarm water (sitz bath) for 20 minutes several times daily for several weeks. If these
measures do not help I would recommend that you see a colorectal surgeon for further evaluation.
