Augmentin & Rectal Issue

I was put on Augmentin about 2 weeks ago for strep 850mg bid for 7 days...By the 3rd day I was having stomach cramping and diarrea (diarrhea) with alot of residual diarrea (diarrhea) seeping out which resulted in itchy, sore and red anal area. Diarrea (diarrhea) was gone after I stopped the ABX but intense redness, itchy and a yellow foul smelling sticky liquid still hanging around. I had a cbc and stool sample sent to lab and it was normal. Actually I couldnt present the lab with stool at the time but I gave them some of the viscous yellow discharge in the cup to test. Anyhow they diagnosed the itch and redness as perianial candida. Ironically my wife got what appeared to be a yeast infection arounf the same time. Sigh....I'm using Econazole bid the last 2 days with no relief...This is making me crazy at this point...
I need a second opinion from you Dr please !!!!!!!

1) Could this be bacterial thinking the lab didnt get a "stool" from me. I got the lab results overnight. Doesnt the stool sample beng checked for bacteria take a few days to show ?

2) Is it possible that I developed a yeast infection from the ABX and gave it to her ? We did have intercourse around then..

GI side effects can occur with any antibiotic.  

To answer your questions:

1) It normally takes a few days for bacteria to be grown in the stool sample.

2) It is true that sometimes antibiotics can lead to a yeast infection.  Obtaining scrapings of the region and looking at it under a microscope can be considered.  

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Just an FYI....This morning I went to the bathroom and out came a yellow real foul smelling gooey phlegm like substance....Plus a little piece of stool that had what appeared to be a white ribbon-like attachement to it.....
