Barretts Disease

I have been diagnosed with high dysplasia. I am taking nexium before breakfast and dinner. What is the statistical probability of this progressing to cancer and where would you recommend going to get a second opinion?

The probability of the Barrett's progressing to cancer would depend on the severity and length of the Barrett's.  It can range from 6-8% in short-segment Barrett's vs 15-24% in long segment Barrett's.

I would obtain another opinion with a GI physician, preferably at a major academic medical center.

Treatment options can range from surgery to photodynamic therapy.  These options can be discussed with your personal physician or in conjunction with a GI physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
