Barretts Esophagus: Re-section surgery.

Barretts Esophagus: Re-section surgery.

I am 56 years old.  Five pyhysicians tell me that I need a Re-section.  No cancer yet found.  Two endoscopic procedures.  More than 50 biopsies.  Phathology read by University of Washington Barretts Program, and at Harvard/Beth Israel.

High Grade dysplasia covering 7cm.

What is life like after surgery.  Compared to life and food as I now know it?  Is there a life?  Do I live off of baby food; inactive, and disabled??

I was suprised and relieved to find people out there who have had a Esophagectomy. I had mine in May 1999. Recovery has been extremely slow for me, had Golden Staph one week after operation. Some say it takes time and others wonder why I'm not back to 'normal'. The operation was scary for me, more out of fear than anything else. Any support on what to eat to stop Dumping Syndrome, Diarrhoea, Nausea and occasional sudden weakness.I'm sorry my imput seems negative, the truth is I wouldn't be writing this now if it wasn't for the operation. It has been impossible to find people who now what I am going through. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
