Bilroth Complications

Posted By Steve Zitnick on June 10, 1998 at 12:09:44:

In 1979, I had a Bilroth I ( I believe, resectioning stomach and cutting vagas nerve). Following the surgery and since that time, I have had "dumping symptoms" when I have ingested sugar in my diet. In the last year or so, these have become more severe and have been triggered by relatively little amounts of sugar. For example, 2 tablespoons of a salad dressing. In the past, I have experienced cramps and diarrehea, occasionally vomiting. Now ,the vomiting is severe and continues for several hours after onset. The urge continues even after all stomach contents are gone.
A second part of my question concerns high triglycerides levels that show up in my annual physicals. I drink alchohol only occasionally and moderately and my Cholesterol is normal range ( 190-200) for 55 year old man. My weight is 5-7 pounds above "new" weigth standards. I am in excellent overall health and exercise regularly. My question is can the level of the triglycerides be linked to my surgery and complications?
