Black gallstones

Posted By Kathyw on December 11, 1998 at 10:04:58:

I have really done well overall since my gallbladder surgery.
However, I continue to have burning pain in my extremities and
get really tired with flu-like symptoms.  You said that black
gallstones are a result of hemolysis and gave several reasons
this could occur.  I need to know if I need some follow-up tests
to see if the problems I am having now are related to the reason
that I developed these black gallstones.  Or should removing the
gallbladder take care of any of those problems?  All of my CBCs
have been normal; MCHC was borderline high at least once; I had
slightly elevated urobillirubin  in my urine before the
surgery.  My liver enzymes were slightly elevated with a GGT
that was twice the normal limits.  All tests for connective
tissue disease have been negative.  Any input would be
appreciated
