Blood in Stool

Blood in Stool

History:
30 year old female

Blood in stool in Jan of 2006, colonoscopy done and completely clear and normal.

Blood again in Jan 2007 and ongoing since then.  Sometimes bright red and in toilet and when I wipe.  Sometimes on the feces and sometimes inside the feces and can't be seen.  Other symptoms are intermittent upper abdominal discomfort, not pain, just discomfort along with constipation but I also suffer from hypothyrodism so I don't know if the constipation is from that.

Since negative colonoscopy in January of 2006 I had the following done:

March 2007 Upper GI (Clear)
March 2007 CT scan of abdmomen and pelvis (Clear)
June 2007 Rectal exam (Clear) and abdomen checked which was soft

What could be causing the continuous blood in the stools for the past 5 months and have I had enough tests done to rule out colon cancer?

A negative colonoscopy is 2006 would make polyps or cancer less likely.

Hemorrhoids or an anal fissue can still be considered.  Obtaining an anoscopy or flexible sigmoidoscopy can be considered if this is suspected.

If the bleeding continues, you may need to repeat the colonoscopy, or obtain a bleeding scan to pinpoint the exact source of the blood.

These options can be discussed with your GI physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

Been to the toilet twice tonite, normally i'd go once. The first time i did notice some fresh blood, though not a great amount.

The second time, however there was an awful lot and its quite worrying. Sometimes the sphincter has bled, albeit nothing serious, but the large quantity which gushed out tonight is rather disturbing. It was fresh, and red, and gushed out with and after a stool, but was not mixed with it. Could this be serious?

I will try to get to a doctor when i can.
