Blood streaks in stool??

Twice in the last two months I have experinced blood streaks in my stool.  The blood has been in the first part of the bowel movement.  I consider my self very regular.  I have a bowel movent every morning when I wake up and sometimes one more through out the day.  I had a small bout with diarrea (diarrhea) about a month ago but it only lasted about 1/2 of a day.  I do have some external hemroids.  Also have had a back ach for about a month in by lower back.  I've had this before in the past.  My stools don't seem to be any narrower than in the past.  I've had no significant wieght loss or gain.  I'm 28 5'10 and 230 so I'm over wieght.  I'm on Ziac for blood pressure and lipitor for cholesteral.  Do you think the things I've listed are cause for concern or just hemriods.  I sould also mention I haven't had a fever if that matters and my appitite is good.

Blood streaks in the stool can be caused by a variety of things, like hemorrhoids, anal fissures, diverticulosis, polyps or cancer.  

A lower endoscopy would be the most comprehensive test to exclude the most serious causes.  A flexible sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy can be considered for further evaluation.  Treatment would depend on what was found.
