Bowel???

Bowel???

I am 32 years old, two kids, don't smoke, drink socially.
I have the following symptoms:
aching persistant pain in upper right under my rib, pain wakes me up at night, worse after food (greasy), radiates to back, nausea, loss of apetite. The pain has been there for apprx. 3 months.
I have had the following tests: ultrasound (normal), upper GI (normal), and blood tests (normal). I am scheduled for a colonoscopy in october.

What do you think he is looking for? What do my symptoms make you think I could possibly have. Do my symptoms sound serious? I would like to get some idea of what my symptoms may indicate I may possibly have.....thank you for your time and efforts.. Sincerely L.G.

Your liver is in your upper quadrant under your ribs. If the dr has checked your liver then it might be something else. You haven't described any bowel troubles like diahhrea, constipation, blood in stools or lower abdomen pains which are all indicative of bowel troubles so i have no idea why a colonoscopy is in order. I would think that they would want to do an endoscopy is it is upper GI problems that you have been experiencing. It's good that all the tests have come out negative.

I agree with Roger.  I think your problems sound more like gallbladder problems.  I had much of the same symptoms.  I would also think that an endoscopy was in order.  Its odd that an ultrasound hasn't showed anything.  I had both endoscopy and ultrasound done same day.  Both verified my gallbladder had to go.  Good luck!

Thank you for repying to my question. Turns out so far it is not gallbladder. I am getting a colonoscopy in two days. Doctor thinks it may either be an obstruction in my colon, ulser (i don't think so), or pancreatits.
My sypmtoms have changed somewhat: diarrehea with mucus (getting up through the night), still aching on right side under rib that radiates to the back, nausea. I will update on the diagnosis...L.G.
