Can I order a BELLY BUTTON PLEASE?

  Hello,
I'm Brigitte and I am 22 years of age.  I was born with no skin on my stomach.  I don't have a belly button.  Instead I was left with two scars.  One that is quite noticeable where my belly button is supposed to be.  The other is on the upper left hand side of the other scar.  My question is.  I'm not sure if I have to get the skin redone and go through Umbilicalplasty because I've been asked if I have any congenital abnormalities.  I'm not sure on how to look or research that.  All I want is a belly button.  Can someone please refer me to someone.  I know it isn't of uthmost importance since I'm healthy but it would help my low self esteem.
  Please reply.
Dear Brigitte,
Congenital abnormalities are defects you are born with. Most people who have abdominal wall defects know that they have this problem. They usually require corrective surgery at birth. Examples of congenital abdominal wall defects include omphalocele and gastroschisis. In these conditions abdominal contents herniate or protrude outward because of a congenital abnormality. It would probably be most appropriate for you to consult a general surgeon who has an interest in this area or a plastic surgeon. Good luck to you.
