Can a slow emptying gallbladder aggravate diverticulosis

I'm a 47 year old male with diverticulosis, GERD, a hiatal hernia, an esophageal ulcer and a stomach ulcer. (Medical history posted below on 5-8-02) For the last 9 months I've been having pain at the left lower abdomen, front to back which has been getting increasingly worse.  It seems to be at its worst when there is stool in the colon and I feel better when the colon is empty. After many recent tests (EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, blood, urine, abdominal/chest x-rays, CT scan of the abdomen, ultrasound of kidneys, bladder, gallbladder, pancreas, liver and a Hida scan) I was found to have an inflammed colon and stomach and a slow emptying gallbladder. My gallbladder ejection fraction was #1=5.5%, #2=13.0% and #3=6.7%, optimal is 35%.  They found no stones and I DO NOT have the classic gallbladder symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, pain in RIGHT side after eating a fatty meal, jaundice, dark urine, clay colored stools.  My gastroenterologist suggests having my gallbladder removed.  Until recently I wasn't certain what was causing my pain as I have never hurt like that before with these problems. I'm now reasonably certain that my pain on the LEFT side is my colon.  Can a slow emptying gallbladder affect diverticulosis even though there are no classic gallbladder symptoms present?  Are there any other alternatives to remedy a slow emptying gallbladder with no stones other than removing the gallbladder?  Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
