Can't get a deep breath!

I am a healthy, non-smoking male who has had trouble recently catching a deep breath. This first happened last week and went away after a few days...now it has returned.  No other real symptoms, just can't get a deep breath.
Am I in any danger or am I endangering my lungs or any other organs?
  Dear Josh,
: Some patients with gastroesophageal reflux have a difficult time catching their breath and difficult swallowing. On the other
: hand, it would be important to rule out other causes such as asthma, seasonal allergies, other cardiopulmonary disorders anxiety or panic disorder. If you are overweight you might want
: to try and lose a significant amount of weight. Watching your diet and adhering to anti-reflux measures may also help. You can
: also try over the counter antacids or antisecretory drugs such as ranitidine (Zantac 75), famotidine (Pepcid AC), cimetiidine
: (Tagamet HB) or nizatidine (Axid AR).If these symptoms persist you should see your primary care physician for further
  : evaluation.

: consultation. Always check with your personal physician when you have a question pertaining to your health.
