Cause/treatment of post lapascopic sigmoid resection symptoms??

8 months ago I had a lapascopic sigmoid resection for Diverticulitis. 12 inches of colon were removed. Since then I have 8-10 BMs a day and night that are loose, runny, short and thin worm shaped. I am currently taking levsin (one before meals)but it has not helped much at all.  Eating anything seems to trigger an immediate bm reaction. I eat bland food, have eliminated dairy, fruit, fats and caffine. I suppliment with fiber. Still the problem continues. I have not lost weight and there has been no blood in the stools. There are times when there is severe pain in the rectum prior to bm. From time to time there is pain in the lower right side, but seems to be gas. I will have a normal bm maybe twice a week. I am 64 and 22 years ago had a complete hysterectomy. This is having a major negative effect on my daily life. The doctors seem to be out of ideas.
