Choking and constipation

Posted By Barbara Steinhauser on October 21, 1998 at 11:14:09:

My 9 year old son has always had two problems,  choking and constipation, exhibited in the following behaviors:  one, he chokes on meat;  two, he messes his underwear with smooth consistency excrement.  Tomorrow, 10/21, he will have a berium swallow to see whether he has a hiatal hernia or some such obstruction.  I am wondering whether these two problems might be related and also worrying about the effects of x-rays and berium on a small boy.  He is allergic to casein and to egg whites.  I guess I'm just seeking more information from another source.  Can you help me?
