Colon Cancer?

Colon Cancer?

: About three days ago I have felt an itchy sensation after I used the bathroom.   Yesterday after I used the bathroom I noticed bright blood on the toilet paper.  I immediatly loged on the web to find what could it be.  " I suffer from anxeity" when I read it could have a POSIBLE CANCER TURN OUT I STARTED TO PANIC.  There is no cancer in my family.  I take things maybe a little to far, but I want to know what percentage of people get this kind of cancer and if from what I explained could it be colon cancer or hemrrohids.  I have not seen my doctor yet , but I will see him soon.
: P.S. very little blood comes only when I strain my-self.
Hello. I am not a doctor but have alot of knowledge on colon cancer as i went through similar scare.  first of all you didn't mention your age, but colon cancer is very very rare under age 40 and almost non-existant under age 30.  If this does not exclude you, some other facts are that the itch you described is common with hemmerhoids or anal fissure.  One other thing you did not mention is change in bowel habbits.  Colon cancer generally has some type of effect on regular bowel habits (i.e. less frequent, constipation, diahrea).  Best thing to do is see doctor who will do a flexible sigmoidoscopy to find source fo blood.  This test is a little unconfortable but not painful, lasts about 20 minutes, and you will be able to leave immedately following with conclusive results, which in your case i would guess hemmerhoids.  Good luck!
Dear MAD,
Your symptoms are suggestive of anal outlet bleeding secondary to a hemorrhoid or fissure. Colon cancer is uncommon in young patients but is the second most common cancer in the US among people over 60 years of age. Although you are probably fine you should see your doctor to see if further evaluation is needed. I hope you find this information helpful.
