Colonoscopy Biopsy Results?

Hello Doctor,

I am a 28 y.o. male, history of change in bowel movement form and frequency since last june (8 mos. now).  Every day seems to be the same almost, similar routine: Upon waking in the morning, I go have a loose bowel movement right away consisting of many smaller pieces, formed, but thinner and somewhat mushier.  I usually go between 1-3 times each morning, and then I sometimes another more formed small stool in afternoon.  At night, I can't go, can't seem to get anything out. My bowel movements seem more frequent but less in volume, and its a steady routine now.

My testing thus far has been:

Had blood tests done, including cbc, thyroid, celiac, endocrine, occult blood, IBD panel, all normal.  Had a slight vitiman D deficiany.

Had stool samples done, normal.

Had a small bowel follow through, normal, with somewhat accelerated transit time.

Had a colonoscopy done, normal.  My question is with the biopsy results.  I got the report after my doctor called and said "everythings fine" but I noticed on the lab report it mentioned "mild chronic mucosal inflamation (inflammation)" -

I am curious to know if this is something that is not "normal"?  At the end of the test, my doctor came in and told me "we ruled out all the major things and are waiting for biopsies"

Does this mean I definately don't have IBD?  Is the inflamation (inflammation) the start of IBD?

Should I be on ANY kind of treatment?

I continue to have the same issues everyday;  I have never really been given a diagnosis, and when I continue to call the office for answers I feel like I am pushing this too much, being overly concerned.  But I wish I had some definate answers.  Can you offer any thoughts?  Thank you,

Scott

Mild inflammation is indeed non-specific, and does not conclude that inflammatory bowel disease is present.

Also, with the negative stool studies, it would make it less likely that an infection is leading to the inflammation.

You can consider imaging the abdomen, with a CT scan or small bowel series, and there are some blood tests to consider if inflammatory bowel disease continues to be suspected.

These tests can include the anti-OmpC antibody, pANCA, and ASCA tests,  They are relatively specialized, and can be discussed with your gastroenterologist.

I cannot suggest a treatment regimen without knowing exactly what is causing your symptoms.
