Complications post Op

My Husband had a colectomy with 3 feet of colon removed a month ago.  He finds he has no urge to pee and the only way he knows he has to go is a pain in the right side of his stomach (His colectomy was the right side or assending.  He says the pain in his stomach is worse now than 2 weeks ago.  I wondered if in the process the bladder could have been damaged or the nerves and if it will ever come back. He is not running a fever and his blood pressure is 116/68.  He can be active one day but the next day he is in bed.  Nothing tastes good or smells good and he is nausiated a lot.

I would discuss these symptoms with your surgeon.

It may be possible that some of the GU system was affected by the surgery.  However, if there continues to be pain you want to rule out post-op complications like bleeding or infection.  

Imaging with a CT scan would be a good start.  If the surgery is completely normal, you can consider a urology evaluation for the urinary complaints.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
