Could Estrogen cause elevation in liver tests?

Hi
I have been going through many different liver tests the last 4months. In the beginning I only had elevation ALT. At the present I have elev. in Alt,Ast,. The Alt-226 and Ast 80. Had ct scan which was normal except for constipation. Tested for Hepatitis, copper, and all such liver disease, which all came back negative. I am schd. for biopsy on June 28, 2001. Both docs-gastro and gyno have asked me to stop the estrogen til the biopsy is done. I feel really bad mainly fatigue but sure its from lack of estrogen. I am 34 yrs. old. Have no family history of liver cancer. Just would like to know your in put.
Thank you
Bobbi

Yes: Yes:  Yes:
Please do not take any type of estrogen. It is highly toxic and will cause severe liver damage. Believe me I know what I am talking about.

ubabe,

I would like to know how you know about estrogen and severe liver damage.  I am on birth control pill and have NASH (fatty enzyme build up in the liver).

Please let me know.

Thanks!

Bobbi, when they do the biopsy, they may determine that you have hemochromotosis.  It is a genetic disease which causes iron to accumulate in the organs, primarily the liver, pancreas and heart.  It can cause fatigue, weakness upon standing, diabetes, and cirrhosis, as well as several other problems.  Good luck!
