Could this be causing my pain?

Could this be causing my pain?

Regarding my previous post on Feb 24 (undiagnosed for 9 months).  I had a pelvic ultrasound done and they found a 3 cm cyst on my left ovary.  The test was done while I was menstruating.  The results indicate that the cyst may be bleeding or infected.  I don't have symptoms of infection (ie. high fever) but I have peristant pain.  The pain tends to be higher (just below my left rib) but I can occasionally feel it lower down as a dull ache.  The pain is all on my left side so I am thinking that my symptoms could all be connected.  My question is is it possible for a cyst to cause intestinal symptoms and pain?  And would the cyst be causing pain in my upper abdomen or should I persist with the gastroenterologist?
Thanks so much for all your help!  I really hope to get some answers as the pain is becoming constant and is affecting my life.

Dear Evelyn,
Ovarian cysts can cause abdominal pain, although usually not in the upper abdomen.  If the pain is interfering with your life and you still do not have answers, then you should consider seeing a gastroenterologist.
