Current treatment for Esophageal Cancer in a 30 yr old

My brother in law has been diagnosed last week with Adenocarcinoma of the lower esophagus and GE junction with left supraclavicular lynphadenopathy. He has a ten year history of esophageal reflux but otherwise healthy.  He is  staged at T3 N1 M1. He has been advised that he is not a candidate for radical curative surgery. He is currently storing sperm as the palliative therapy will make him sterile. What are the latest treatment options? prognosis? experimental treatments or clinical trials? Canadian centres and colleagues that specialize in this  type of Ca??

Dear Tim,
Adenocarcinoma of the esophagus is much less frequent than squamous cell neoplasm.  I assume from your posting that a gastric cancer extending into the esophagus has been excluded.  I suggest that you contact the nearest university to determine if they are involved in experimental protocols.  You may consider having an evaluation at one of the cancer centers e.g. princess margaret in Toronto.
Best ofluck.
