Diarrhea side effect and PPI's

I started having diarrhea after being on Prevacid for about a month.  I have been off the Prevacid for almost a week and still have diarrhea.  How long would it take for the diarrhea side effect to wear off after stopping the med, if that's indeed what is causing the diarrhea?

I was on Prevacid for about 6 weeks or so, had many side effects, but not diarrhea.  If your diarrhea is (and I suspect it is) a side effect in your case, it could very well take several weeks to get your system back to "normal".  It is probably different for everyone, but it took me at least 3 weeks to recover from the Prevacid.  It really had me screwed up.  When once suffering from a lot of diarrhea in the past, I was told to take a fiber drink (I used Citracel) but DON'T drink the extra glass of water they suggest.  This may normalize your stool.  I hope it works for you.  (Or you can try waiting and seeing what happens without it.)
