Discomfort and Aspirin

Hello,

I am new to this forum but happened to be browsing the internet and found it.

I have been experiencing some stomach discomfort for the past week.  I should probably tell you first that I have been under stress. My husband had his colon removed on May 3rd and had his ostomy bag removed last Wednesday (July 17th) for those not familiar with this removing the bag involves another surgery for which he has had some setbacks and as of this date is still in the hospital.

Here is my question:

I have been experiencing frequent diarrhea for the past 5 days. I have taken immodium and it doesn't seem to help.   I also have tenderness and a sense of urgency.  The other thing I am concerned about is the fact that I take aspirin daily for migraine headaches and am wondering if this is contributing to the problem.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Thanks

I think you are right about the aspirin. Aspirin can cause an ulcer. Stress can cause an ulcer. So you've got both factors!

If I were you, I would not take any more aspirin. Instead, for your migraines, I would read the migraine section of a great book called "Prescription for Nutritional Healing" by Balch & Balch. This book recommends holistic (natural) healing methods.

This book goes into the CAUSES of various medical conditions, including migraines. Once you know YOUR causes, you can work on removing the causes, lessening the causes, & treating them (if removal is impossible).

I think you need a combination of stress relief (like a good person to whom you can ventilate, safely), and some dietary & lifestyle tips, to heal your stomach & intestines, etc.

You might be able to get some ideas from the Gastric Reflux tips that I'll post. These tips help to heal ulcers, etc. Bring a copy of these tips to a good health food store, if you like the tips, and try them out (if safe for you to do so).j

I wish the best for you and your husband! I'm sure others will share their ideas with you, too. (Read below):
*****************************************

Some GASTRIC REFLUX TIPS (without acid blockers):

GER=Gastro-Esophageal Reflux. (Gastro=stomach. Esophagus=food tube.)

LPR= Laryngeal-Pharyngeal Reflux. (Larynx=voice box, containing the 2 vocal cords. Pharynx=throat, above the larynx. The larynx is above the trachea/windpipe.)

Reflux=acidic or alkaline stomach material that backs up into the esophagus (food tube), causing any of these problems: VCD/Vocal Cord Dysfunction/Laryngospasm attacks, cough, voice problems, asthma, globus (feeling of lump in throat), constant need to clear throat, worsening of sinus condition, sore throat, pre-cancerous conditions of throat &/or esophagus, etc.

SOME GER/LPR CONTROL THINGS WE DO, that we learned from the excellent book: STOMACH AILMENTS AND DIGESTIVE DISTURBANCES, by Michael T. Murray, N.D. See page 9, References, in my website: http://cantbreathesuspectvcd.com   and, also see GER/LPR info on page 5, and on LINKS page.

PLEASE READ THIS GREAT BOOK. It may possibly be bought on-line, from Michael T. Murray

Hello,

Thanks for all of your information, I will check it out.  I have had these migraines for so long (they started at age 17 and I am now 44) they have become part of my daily life.  I have tried acupuncture, chiropractor as well as numerous medications.

I appreciate your posting all your info and I will let you know how I make out.

Thanks

Thank you! Let us know what you find out may be causing or triggering your migraines. (See Dr. Balch's book, at least).

Also, avoid not only aspirin, but all acidic foods for a while. (One exception to this is PROBIOTICS, like Acidophilus/Bifidus--these are very helpful for stopping diarrhea, and helping to normalize the large intestine's functions).

Let us know which tips help you!
