Diverticultis surgery

Diverticultis surgery

A few weeks ago I had an attack of diverticulitis and was given oral antibiotics and went home that day.  The colonscopy that I had done revealed that I have diverticulosis.  Being that I am only 35 years old, I was wondering if anyone out there had surgery done to remove the piece of the infected colon.

Also, I live in the New York City area and wanted to get a "second" opinion regarding surgery and wanted to know if anyone knows of any good surgeons who specializes in this disease.

Thanks

To Mr. 35 year old with diverticulitis , I had an attack similar to your own six years ago . I am now 55 , my personal opinion is do not have surgery if you can live with it . Modify your diet to include less red meat , more vegetables and fruit, also try eating oatmeal every day for breakfast.
This is only one persons opinion , health care professionalls can certainly give you a more informed opinion . But remember the surgery may be more difficult in the long run than your peresent condition.
