ERCP Update

well I had the ercp done yesterday.  Good news and bad news.  He was able to get to the pancreas ducts and they drained well, however he was unable to get into the bile duct.  He is referring me to the university hospital to have it done by a specialist there.  I'm so nervous to eat anything now as I don't want to trigger another attack.  Anyone had bile duct problems?

Hi,
I have had my share of bile duct problems.  I have Chronic Pancreatitis and Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction.  I can tell you that you need to have this done in a timely manner.  I would watch what I eat, but I wouldn't stress too hard over this.  Stress can trigger an attack too.  As long as you have the ERCP done by a qualified dr. as soon as possible and you watch what you eat, drink and your fat intake, you will be fine.
Good luck to you,

Thanks for the update, I was hoping everything went well for you on Friday.

How was the ERCP procedure?

The procedure was painless as I was out for it.  I felt really nauseous all day afterwards probably from all the meds. I just had some mild pain when it wore off, a little scratchy throat.  I'm not really looking forward to having another one but I've got no choice.

How do you know if you are getting pancreatitis from the procedure or not? How do you tell if you are sick from the meds, the procedure or pancreatitis?
Also why does this have to be done in a timely manner? What are the repercussions of letting it go?
And, does the spot stay sore all of the time, even after the eating pain has gone? I have a wicked sore spot there.
This is really frustrating.
I told the Doctors a while ago, that I thought I was getting pancreatitis, and they keep saying that my amylase and lipase would be elevated and then I hear that they wouldn't be if it went on for too long.
Wish I would find an answer.
And eating a low fat diet didn't work, I just lost more and more weight. If I get pancreatitis now, I really don't have any reserves of weight to fight with. Just bones everywhere with a bloated stomach. lol.
