Effects of H2 Blockers on Fertility?

Posted By Claudia on July 18, 1999 at 11:38:11
I am 32 years old and frustrated!!  I had no problem conceiving my son 5 years ago.  While I was pregnant I thre up for 5 months.  After his birth I had "gallstone attacks", or so they said.  I had my gallbladder removed.  Six months later I had the same attack!  After numerous tests, gi doctor diagnosed me with esoph./reflux, hiat. hern..  I was put on prilosec, then prevacid, and gradually put on rantidine ( for 2 years I've been taking these)  My heartburn is better, but I still get frequent belching with regergitation.  Sometimes I feel like a burp is stuck and I can't take a deep breath until it passes.  For 2 years I've been trying to get pregnant.  I had a misc. last year.   Now I'm going through fert. treatment.  My diagnosis is unexplained.  Does anyone know if the H2 blockers effect fertility or implantation?  Is this all a coincidence?  I can't help but wonder if my digestive problems have caused other problems... By the way, I still get classic right under breastbone pain once in a while.  I also wish I never had my gallbladder out.  I have now heard that you can have stones that are not active or causing pain.  I still see my GI doctor regualarly.  He says my last bar. swallow didn't show my hiat. hern. anymore.  Could it have healed?  He also says that he's never heard of the relation to fertility.  I'd be really thankful for your input!!! Sorry so long.
